Hours and Amenities
Rotoroa Island is open most days from dawn until dusk and a range of amenities are available for visitors, from bbqs to changing sheds, fresh water and toilets.
Amenities
Changing sheds, historic buildings and the island's
museum and exhibition centre are open 10am - 5pm most days. We
recommend you wear sturdy footwear for Rotoroa's gravel roads and
tracks.
Barbeques, toilets and fresh water are all accessible from
Home Bay, the island's main settlement. Mobile phone coverage is
excellent on the island.
Because there are no shops on Rotoroa, we recommend you pack a
picnic, togs and sunblock. There are two electric barbeques on the
island, but if you want to be assured of using one of these, we
recommend you email us
so we can reserve one for you. A booking fee applies.
Help us protect Rotoroa's developing environment
Dogs and other animals are prohibited on the island as we
aim to become predator-free.
To help us maintain Rotoroa's beauty we ask that any rubbish you
bring on to the island you take off.
Fires and camping are prohibited on the island, as is biking as
it damages our fragile roads and tracks.
