For Conservation Week, we were proud to deliver our Conservation in the Classroom programme, a free conservation education programme for schools in Auckland and across New Zealand that brought Rotoroa Island educators directly into classrooms to spark curiosity, connection, and action for nature. This Auckland-based school conservation programme is part of our wider commitment to delivering meaningful environmental education for schools in Auckland.
Across the week, we worked alongside teachers and students to explore biodiversity, endangered species, and invasive species through hands-on, interactive learning. Instead of just learning about conservation, students experienced it through games, challenges, and group activities as part of engaging in-school conservation workshops and practical hands-on environmental education activities.
These sessions were designed to be engaging, practical, and curriculum-linked, supporting biodiversity education for Auckland primary and intermediate schools. They helped students make meaningful connections to the natural world and see themselves as active conservationists in their own communities through interactive science and conservation learning in Auckland classrooms.
With strong demand, we were able to visit multiple schools each day, reaching classrooms across Auckland and delivering high-quality school outreach conservation education experiences that supported teachers with impactful, real-world learning.
