Seeking Summer Rangers

Join our team over summer: Mid November 2022 to Mid-April 2023

We are looking for two practical people with can do attitudes to work on Rotoroa Island during the 2022 summer. You will work to a fortnightly roster basis (based on 40 hrs./week) and are required to live on the island while working. We provide shared, fully furnished accommodation. Power and Wi-Fi are provided and transport between Rotoroa and the mainland are also covered based on a commercial ferry service.

If you are a hardworking, self-starter with practical experience working in remote places - this job is for you! We are looking for 2 full time rangers to join our small team for the Summer. You need to be an adaptable person used to working to set standards who will do it what it takes to get the job done.

Tasks will be focused on grounds and facilities maintenance and include everything from cleaning accommodation and facilities, grounds maintenance and working with the public. You will also get opportunities to run trap lines, tracking tunnels and monitor our wildlife as well as enjoy island life in summer.

Please be aware that Rotoroa is an extremely busy and often very hot place in summer. It is a physically demanding job. It is therefore essential that our whole team work together to achieve weekly work programs to standards set by the Rotoroa Island Trust.

A class 2 driver’s license and a current first aid certificate are essential prerequisites as is a strong commitment to health and safety. Experience with machinery such as tractors and mowers are also an advantage, but we will also provide training to the right people.
